Canada museum kills masturbation video after outcry

Generative video installation: Legible Nature
Legible Nature: Fate is an Afterthought, models the flight patterns and physical movements of Atlantic Grey Gulls. The natural laws of these flight patterns are altered so that the birds periodically converge to form letters. These letters slowly spell out poems from the Manyoshu, a diverse collection of eighth century Japanese poems which employ the fleeting beauty of Nature as a common metaphor. A complete cycle of poems takes nearly two hundred days to complete, every second of the installation is uniquely generated by the rules of the system. The piece embodies the struggle to make sense of that which is fleeting and whose comprehension remains just beyond our grasp. A glossy, sky-blue box houses both projector and computer, projecting the piece onto the ceiling, and seeming to float above the floor.

Bei der Begehung der neuen Räumlichkeiten war selbst OB Würzner von der Großzügigkeit und Weitläufigkeit des Neuen Unterwegstheaters beeindruckt. Neben dem sehr grossen Spielraum des Theaters, sind die Räume für bildende Kunst und Videoinstallationen im katakombenhaften Kellergeschoss der HebelHalle ein echter Kunstort. Die dabei gezeigte Videoinstallation von Nils Herbstrieth muss besonders erwähnt werden. Herbstrieth, selbst Architekt, zeigt hier eine reflektierte, intelligente, fast zynische Arbeit, die sich mit dem Thema Architektur auseinandersetzt.
Transfer, Video Installation
„Transfer" ist ein auf lose Teile angelegte Videoinstallation, welche sich mit Inszenierung von vergangenem und der Wirklichkeiten auseinandersetzt. Bezüge zur Vergangenheit sind Existenz und Lebenswege eines Ortes der sich durch Aussiedlung (zwangsläufig) zur Wüstung entwickelt hat. Die Wirklichkeit ist die jetzige Situation der natürlichen Gegebenheit (Natur / Landschaft?) Im Transfer befinden sich Restbestände verblichene Fundamente und Erde.
